What does Monte actually do?
Monte runs Monte Carlo simulations on the portfolio you build — typically thousands of randomized paths — and reports the probability that your portfolio meets the goal you defined. Inputs include your tickers and weights, contribution schedule, withdrawal schedule, time horizon, and inflation assumption.
Where does the market data come from?
Live and historical U.S. equity data comes from Financial Modeling Prep via our own Cloudflare Worker proxy. We do not sell or share your portfolio with any data provider — only the ticker symbol is transmitted when looking up a price.
Is Monte giving me financial advice?
No. Monte is a simulation and education tool. It is not a registered investment adviser and the results it produces are projections, not predictions or recommendations. See our Terms of Service for the full disclaimer.
How accurate is a Monte Carlo simulation?
A simulation is only as good as its assumptions. Monte uses historical volatility and correlation from real ticker data, geometric Brownian motion for return distributions, and your chosen inflation rate. It cannot predict regime changes, tail events, or your personal liquidity needs. Treat the probability number as a ballpark, not a guarantee.
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone, in Apple's SwiftData store. We do not have a server that holds your portfolios or simulation results. If you use iCloud device backups, your Monte data may be included in that backup under your Apple account.
How do I cancel my Pro or Max subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, tap Monte, then Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then.
How do I request a refund?
Apple handles all refund requests for App Store purchases. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, find your Monte purchase, and request a refund directly.
I restored my purchase and Pro/Max isn't unlocking.
Open the app, go to the paywall, and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID used to make the original purchase. If it still doesn't work, email us with your Apple receipt number and we'll help sort it out.
Can I add international tickers or crypto?
Today, Monte supports U.S. equities and major ETFs available through our data provider. International equities and crypto are on the roadmap. Let us know which tickers you want to see most.
What iOS version do I need?
Monte requires iOS 17 or later and is optimized for iPhone.
How do I delete all my data?
Either delete individual portfolios inside the app, or delete the Monte app from your iPhone — that removes everything stored on the device. If you also want to remove the data from any iCloud device backup, manage that under Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Backups.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Email viray.jon@gmail.com with what you were doing, what happened, and what you expected to happen. Screenshots help a lot. Include your iOS version and device model if you can.
